When I was going through chemotherapy, there were days at work when I’d wonder how I was going to get through the next few hours. I felt overwhelmed and exhausted, and worried I wasn’t going to be able to focus on my clients and their needs.

But in the bathroom there was a little sign that got me through those hard times, and might help you through yours, too.

“Breathe,” the sign says. So, just “breathe.” 

No matter what challenge you’re facing right now, taking a long, deep breath can relax your body, your mind and your spirit. It can also remind you that no matter how difficult the task ahead of you, there is always something you can do to feel better, even if it’s as simple as taking your next breath.

So, if you’re worried, if you’re stressed, go ahead, put your hand over your heart and take a deep full breath. Let your belly relax, let your shoulders relax. Relax and breathe. Breathe on purpose. Breathe as if your life depends on it, because it does.

Just Breathe.
