Anxiety is the most common mental disorder in the U.S.

According to the ADAA (Anxiety & Depression Association of American), “Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment.”

Left untreated, anxiety can make us sick physically. It can keep us up at night, cause difficulties at work, and interfere in relationships. Anxiety can keep us trapped and alone. Persistent social stigmas can make it feel like we’re suffering in silence.

“The 2024 results of the American Psychiatric Association’s annual mental health poll show that U.S. adults are feeling increasingly anxious. In 2024, 43% of adults say they feel more anxious than they did the previous year, up from 37% in 2023 and 32% in 2022. Adults are particularly anxious about current events (70%) — especially the economy (77%), the 2024 U.S. election (73%), and gun violence (69%).”

REVIEWS

"In the pages that follow, readers can find simple and practical tools for coping with difficult circumstances. Even people who’ve had past experience with therapy are likely to find ideas in the book that they’ll find beneficial."

— Kirkus Reviews [Read complete review]

"This is an important subject, but it's rarely something that gets discussed – especially for women. Mental health is so important. The book is well-written and -researched. One important chapter is nine, where the author leads readers how and when to get help, and this is perhaps the most challenging aspect of mental health. This book will go over well with its audience."

Wendy Leeds

About

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Wendy underwent several surgeries and six months of chemotherapy. It was at that low point that she began her life-long journey to create a calm, centered, joyful life – for herself and others. She began reading everything she could get her hands on about anxiety, and later went back to school to earn two graduate degrees in psychology.

Today, as a licensed mental health therapist, she has assembled an amazing collection of tools, tips, and techniques for explaining how to cope with anxiety with or without medication. She uses many of these tools in her own life, and is passionate about sharing them with other women.

Wendy lives in Massachusetts with her husband, Tom and their dog, Myles Standish.
