Here’s an easy technique you can use to ease your fears no matter where you are or what you’re doing. And no one needs to be the wiser.
At your first fearful thought, put your hand over your heart. Take a deep breath and repeat to yourself the following, “I am completely safe in this moment. Nothing is harming me. I’m all right.”
As you continue to repeat these phrases, notice whether or not they’re true. Is anything bad really happening to you? If so, do something about it. But if you’re safe where you are, and are only worried about something that might happen, notice that. Tell yourself about that.
Then let go of all those fearful thoughts.
Continue until you feel calm and relaxed.
